1. Who are the authors that inspire you?

Oh, there are so many amazing authors out there! I love YA authors like Becky Albertalli, Rainbow Rowell, Mackenzi Lee, Marie Lu and Cassandra Clare. I also have to mention Stephenie Meyer, since the Twilight series was the series that really opened up my eyes for the YA genre, even though I’m not sure that I would love the series quite as much if I reread it now.

But if I have to choose one author, it would have to be J.K. Rowling, for the way she created a whole universe on her own and all the characters that you love and carry with you in your heart forever. With Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling has also helped so many troubled and lonely children, giving them hope and bringing them joy, it’s utterly amazing. There’s even a research study proving that the Harry Potter books help children to be more accepting of LGBT persons, so the books are literally making the world a better place!

2. Are you excited to start writing the third book on The Angelheart Saga?

Yes, so excited! But also so nervous! So to be honest I’ve kind of been procrastinating it for a while… I have written the first storyline and major parts of the plot, but I know it will be a tough job to finish the manuscript since I have to wrap everything up then, not leaving any loose ends and, potentially, have to break a heart or two. I’d love for all of the characters in the book to get their happy ever afters, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to accomplish that. But who knows? The parts about writing a book that I like the most is when the characters takes over, when they kind of creates their own story. So hopefully this writing journey will surprise me as well!

3. What would you like to achieve as an author?

I’d love to be able to live on my writing and not having to have another full-time job. Right now I have to try and write whenever I can between work and being with my family, which means that I do most of my writing when the rest of the family is asleep or on the flight between our two homes in Stockholm-New York… It would be a dream to have the luxury to only focus on my books and my writing!

Another thing I’d like to achieve is to have my books represented in all the major book stores, and on a best selling list.

4. Are you thinking about writing another book when you finish The Angelheart Saga?

Yes, I have some ideas already that I’m hoping to pursue. I think I will take a break though and not start directly after I’ve finished the Angelheart Saga. It has been a bit too much at times to find time for work, family, friends and the writing…

5. What are the upsides and downsides of being an author?

The upsides are all the interactions with the readers and book bloggers. It’s such an amazing thing to share your story with others, and getting positive feedback is just magic! I love the book community and all the wonderful contacts; I’ve gotten so much love and support and encouragement, it’s just unbelievable!

The downsides are that it’s time consuming and not very lucrative… So far I’ve paid far more for the review copies I’ve sent than what I’ve earned in commission, lol… But it is so worth it! The feeling when you hold the first copy of the book in your hand is so overwhelming, I can’t even try to put it into words.

6. What do you want your readers to feel when reading your books?

A lot of the readers of First Came Forever have described that the book is a rollercoaster of emotions, so I guess I want them to feel ALL emotions… But overall I want the readers to get involved and care about the story and the characters. My highest wish is that the readers keep thinking about the characters long after they’ve finished reading the book and wonder what will happen to them.

7. What are your top three favorite books of all time?

This question is almost impossible to answer, there are so many amazing books. But the three books on the top of my mind right now are Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee and Carry On by Rainbow Rowell; I’m so in love with these books and the characters!

8. What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not writing?

Just like Erica I love to run, so I’m spending quite a lot of time with my running shoes on. I also love traveling with my family and experiencing the world together and doing outdoor activities, like hiking, surfing or skiing.

9. Who’s your favorite character from The Angelheart Saga?

Oh, I don’t think I can choose one. It’s like choosing which of your children you love the most… Actually, since I’ve been living with the characters in the book for years now, I kind of do think about them as real-life-persons, like my children or old friends that I wish the very best for. So I would have to be boring and say that all of them are my favorites…

10. What advice would you give someone who would like to starts writing?

The best advice I can give is to believe in yourself and never give up on your dream! And to just get into the habit of writing, a little bit every day. It’s really the hard work and actually putting the words in your head down on the paper that makes you a writer. Writing down the initial concept is so much fun, then after that it is basically just a lot of hard work… But just keep in mind the story you want to tell, and that you will get to share it with others when the book comes out, and it will be worth it all!
